Amerikai matematikus
Miután 1944-től 1946-ig a seregben szolgált, a híres Princeton Egyetemen szerzett Ph.D. fokozatot 1950-ben. Egyik legfontosabb tanára és szerzőtársa Neumann János volt, John Nash pedig a barátja diák koruktól. Kuhn 37 évig tanított Princetonban, miközben kormányhivataloknak végzett kutatásokat és operációkutatási szervezeteket is vezetett. Magyar szempontból a legfontosabb érdeme, hogy Kőnig Dénes és Egerváry Jenő eredményeinek jelentőségét felismerve világhírűvé tette a "magyar módszer" optimalizációs eljárást. (Hujter Mihály)
